Greenhouse heater & shelving
« on: December 30, 2010, 19:26 »
Hi,
Not sure if this is the right section for this but here goes:

I'm looking for a parafin heater for my greenhouse (6'x8') and some shelving. Would anyone know where I can find some cheap ones? I've found a couple on ebay but expect that they will go up.

I'll move you over to the Equipment Shed, Remy  :)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

not sure about parafin heaters but for shelving I have used the ikea cheap pine shelving, very strong and with a coat of cuprinol should last well. However, for latest g'house I am making it from pallets cut in half...

I'd recommend Gas for a greenhouse heater. Paraffin generates a lot of condensation (Gas does too, but less than Paraffin). I got a cheap second-hand gas heater off eBay (and three bottles of gas :))

If you are handy with a saw and a few screws and battens you could use pressure-treated decking timber for your shelving; it was the best value for treated timber I could find and is pretty versatile as long as you don't expect it to support heavy weights if unsupported for more than 4 feet or so.

Can't quite talk myself round to greenhouse heating so I've nothing to offer on that subject I'm afraid.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!
