Hi All

I always try and get an early start with my indoor lights etc but then come march I have too much stuff for the house and need to put some stuff outside!

Problem is I don't have a greenhouse and once outside I cant move things back indoors.

Do these plastic bell cloches and small poly-tunnels actually work and keep the ground above freezing?

Hi Mattie I think they do have an effect. The question is how much ?
Whether the ground will stay above freezing will depend on the temperature and possibly also location of the bell or poly tunnel.

Personally I have seedlings in my conservatory and then move them out to a small lightweight plastic greenhouse or as some call them a blow away.

Mattie, is there a way you can get hold of some old windows and lean them against the house?

There's a slight benefit in heat at that point, which may just be enough to place the trays inside during the day, and you could drape a sheet or similar over the seedlings at night.

We even used the children's climbing frame, covered in plastic for several years, and just put a standard oil lamp inside! It always worked!
