Leek Moth troubles

My leeks are looking a rather sorry state at the moment as a result of what I have discovered to be the actions of leek moths and their larvae     And I'm not the only one suffering, it seems that everyone elses leeks on the site are too.  This is something I've never come across in my 8 years experience on the plot.

Just wondered if any one else's leeks are looking shredded too or if this might be localised to Andover?

In fact, we planted leeks early in the season, very close together and then ate every other one pencil sized - and so on. Then someone gave us some pencil-sized leeks about a month ago - saying they had too many to plant. So we planted them. They are doinbg really well. Had no idea leeks could be planted so late.

My leeks that were swamped with weeds seem to be doing really well  - maybe we've discovered the trick of growing great leeks!
