Broody Hen??
« on: May 01, 2013, 13:42 »
Our Black Rock layed a soft shell egg yesterday and spent most of the day in the hen house, as we presumed, doing that difficult job.  Today, she waited until another hen was finished laying in one of the egg boxes, and then plopped herself down in it.  Three hours later, I came out with a treat for the girls and so I lifted the lid and tried to stroke her back.  She screeched like a banchee and pecked me.  She knew I was there and I didn't startle her.  What say you?  Broody?

It could be another softie as they are much harder for them to lay.  Make sure she is only eating layers pellets, cut out treats and have crushed oyster shell available all the times.   ;)
