just out with the hens today and saw the legbar with a small piece of glass in her beak, she then dropped it and picked it up again and when she dropped it again I thought I would walk to towards her to get her away from it so I could pick it up but she picked it up and ran off with it and I think she has swallowed it as I cannot find it anywhere (dont know how it got into the run, it is a small piece 1/4 inch long and not very wide, do you think she will be alright?

I suppose it depends how sharp the piece was doesn't it?  My chickens have eaten loads of things they shouldn't have - including polystyrene and bits plastic.  No harm came to them but someone might have more ideas about glass here.  Just check she's still eating and drinking ok.
