Hi

Ive got some peppers in small pots at home .

Are they best to be transferred to another bigger pot or would they be better in open ground on the allotment?

I've lost the packet so I'm not sure of variety unfortunately

I would pot them on.  They need a sunny sheltered site at the very least.  I grow mine in the greenhouse, but if you have sunny patio or similar spot, they are worth a go outside.

I agree, though here, they grow even better planted in the soil in a greenhouse

I use "builders rubble" bucket things - flexible (polythene?) things about a fiver. They are deeper than pots generally an will take 3 plants each.

Yep all my chillies and sweet/ padron peppers go into 10ltr pots in the greenhouse.

I don't think so.  I know several people on our site who put peppers in growbags. 
I put them in 10 litre pots that supermarkets use for flowers and they do alright in those in the greenhouse at home.  This year I am also trying some in the ground in the polytunnel at the allotment and so far they are doing well.

As long as you feed and water them, they'll be fine I find them a bit trickier to get right than in pots or border, but that's probably just me

Me too, my early days of chilli growing was using growbags, when I switched to pots it was so much better and dare I say easier.

So it's 'Minibel', and 'Apache', out there, with a few toms for company!

I'll keep a couple in the GH just to be on the safe side though...

Most of these things will grow outside in open ground quite happily in the UK provided the night temps are good as by and large the daytime temperatures are fine. I think this is where living in a warmer climate benefits growing them. It is not so much the daytime temps it is the nighttime that keeps them on an even keel... sometimes too hot for them during the day and the recover in the cooler evening!
