Count me out - my large variety never popped their heads up. Just got the bog standard ones.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

My biggest Jack O'Lantern is 79cm/31", so respectable but not big enough to trouble the judges.

Better luck next year  ::).
My music teacher was right. If you have to make a mistake, make it good and big and loud; with a bit of luck people will think that it was always meant to be like that.

Can we have a smallest comp too - I have one about 6 inches round at then moment and the plants are dying off!!! :(
The other is hopefully going to be just big enough for a Jack o Lantern.

I cut mine off from the plant today and cleared the bed for garlic. Will take a photo and measure it at the weekend.
Any one got any easy ideas how to weigh  them? We got a comp running on our small site, its to be judged by weight(nonone happy with any form of measurement)  and somehow i've been deemed the judge :( :(.

Just popping on to say how much I enjoy reading this thread. I've grown Atlantic Giant and Rouge De E'tames or whatever it is this year. All my pumps are now in the greenhouse, except one last late developer that I'm desperately hoping will redden up before frost kills it.

I look forward to seeing some photos of the monsters!

Thanks BigB, but mine don't stand a chance.

I grew them in containers (big 90 litre jobbies mind) so have been quite pleased to have got 5 good size cinderellas off two plants. The Atlantic Giant produced just one and it weighs a guesstimated 25 kilos. Not very big, but it'll carve up nice for halloween  :)

They have absolutely trashed my grass paths between the veg beds...  :D
