SEEDLINGS IN FIBRE POTS LEAVES TURNING YELLOW
« on: May 31, 2011, 23:16 »
All my seedlings that are growing in fibre pots are looking sickly. The leaves are are turning yellow.  The same plants growing in plastic pots are healthy. Is there anything that can be done about this. Do fibre pots rob plants of nutrients?

The answer is probably yes, especially if they are small pots and/or the seedlings have been in them for some time.

Fibre pots are the equivalent of "brown" material on compost heaps and tend to rob the soil of nitrogen as they start to decompose.

The nitrogen is eventually returned, probably with interest, but in the short term you need to replace it; a liquid feed (something like Miracle Grow or Phostrogen) should give them the boost they need.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!
