Hi all.

I am after some advice and/or suggestions...

My allotment nears to a wild garden which is not part of the allotment site - I've used Google Maps to map out a dirty map to try and give an idea.

During the autumn, all of the seeds from the wild flowers, blow onto my plot, and thus, means that I am now battling a plot of weeds and wild flowers.

Aside from throwing up bamboo screens along the fence line, does anybody have any practical ideas of ways in which to prevent the wild garden seeds from being dispersed? Or is the bamboo screen the best option?

I'm a total amateur to allotment gardening, however I am keen to learn very quickly

A screen might help a bit, but a lot of seeds are light enough to be wind blown, so they will still get to you.

The best bet is invest in a decent hoe and make sure you use it as often as possible.  You can clear a huge number of weed seedlings like that.  Anything that grows back is a perennial weed that can regenerate from its roots.  You need to get the trowel out and dig them out.

An old gardening trick is to get the ground ready for planting, then leave it a week or so for the weed seeds to germinate.  Once they do, you can really obliterate them with the hoe without worrying about your veg plants

I think we are talking about bamboo screening on a roll rather than bamboo plants grown in the ground
