I've used this one a few times:

Lentilburgers

 8oz green lentils,
1 clove garlic,
24 fl.oz water,
1 green pepper, chopped,
½ bay leaf,
1 carrot, chopped or grated,
1 teasp salt,
1 large onion, chopped
1 teasp corn oil,
½ teasp celery seeds,
1 teasp chilli powder,
1 tblsp tomato paste,
salt if needed,
2oz wholewheat breadcrumbs, oil for shallow frying

Pick over the lentils, wash and drain.  In a pan with a lid, bring the lentils, water and bayleaf to the boil.  Cover lightly, reduce the heat and simmer for 50 mins.
Add the salt, stir, cover and cook until the lentils are tender, approx.10 mins more.
Remove the bayleaf when the lentils are soft and all the water should have been absorbed.  If not, stir over a medium heat until dry.
While the lentils are cooking, heat oil and stir-fry the chopped veg until crisp-tender and remove from the heat.
Lightly mash the cooked lentils, stir in the fried veg, add celery seeds, chilli pdr, tomato paste, and a little more salt if needed.
Allow to cool, form into 8 patties  and dip into breadcrumbs to coat thoroughly.  Heat oil to smoking and fry until the burgers are browned and crisp on both sides.

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Are they ok with celery? If not careful with the celery seeds in Anne's recipe. Tahini is just gr sesame seeds & can be an allergen for susceptible people.

Thats why it rang a bell as we outgrew sesame. We have used celery seeds recently so we are ok to go with that.

Cross contamination seems to be the concern on tahini.  ;) for nuts

Barley they are fine with meat and we make meat patties I should call them, as burgers sound so unhealthy LOL We make burgers ( patties) all the time infact Florence made her own today which she really enjoyed apparently they tasted so much nicer than mummies  ::) my recipe but they obviously had the florence touch with makes it gourmet.

Just fancied adding something different to the mix.
I make broccoli and quinoa chicken nuggets which are great the first two times they were not convinced but the third time they wanted seconds and thirds.
