You could use your own, if you have grown first earlies.
Monty Don has a good article on this in the Daily Mail Weekend suppliment.

Do you need some sort of dormancy period between harvesting and chitting?

Select say a dozen first or second earlies and plant 3 to a tub or large pot on a bed of 6" of compost. Do this by the end of August. As the plants grow, keep adding the compost until the pot is full.
I think you will need 3 weeks between harvesting and planting, which means selection must be made about now.

The advice from Iain was to allow 60 days between harvesting and replanting.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Yes point taken: In effect we have to lift first earlies by the 1st June and replant by the 1st Sept. That means that second ealies are not really an option.

I have grown some Pentland Javelin in pots for the first time, because I had a surplus of seed. I grew them in supermarket flower pots-one to a pot. The return was an average of 3 useful tubers. That was in good gowing conditions. I shall plan two pots per place at the table.
