Hi everyone, I have been lurking around for a bit trying to pick up tips for starting my first veg garden. For Christmas I got the Veg growing month by month book aswell. So have been trying to figure out what would like to grow and how.

Our garden is mostly paved and small area of grass and soil there is have drainage probs so will be trying to grow in containers and in greenhouse.

I am thinking of growing:

Carrots
Sweet potatoes
Potatoes
swede
Aubergine
Sweet peppers
spring onions
Broccoli
leeks
Tomatos
Strawberrys
Possibly garlic and blueberrys also

Do you think this list is a bit ambitious or okay for a begginer?

Thanks for any advice,

Sheona

Hi Sheona, my advice would be to grow what you like to eat!  :D

I'd agree with Sal,if you are limited for space just go for the things that you like to eat the most and also which are the most expensive on your shopping list.
We don't use many spuds but can get a 5kg bag for a couple of quid so it's not worth us taking up land growing them when they are so cheap.
We only started last summer and only had a couple of beds ready but we grew quiet a lot of salad stuff and the taste was worth it alone.
