More on Green Manure
« on: September 03, 2021, 13:10 »
A couple of weeks ago there was a discussion on Radio4 Farming Today prog. about undersowing with Clover. I think it was wheat or barley. The idea was to a)suppress weeds, and b) to bring nitrogen to the roots. I `ve tried a quick search to find out more, with no success. Anyone come across this before?

Yes, I've come across the suggestion to undersow brassicas with a clover/trefoil mix for the same reason. I can't say whether it improves the yield of the brassicas, it does suppress annual weeds, but it also provides a moist sheltered canopy for slugs and snails.
