Old raised bed conversion
« on: July 22, 2019, 21:01 »
I want to convert an old overgrown raised bed no longer required, to a decking area for the BBQ. It’s about 6x4 feet. Can anyone tell me how to reinforce it and lay decking boards on it? Strict budget, so nothing fancy 😉

I take it it has wooden edges? Check theses are sound, weed & cover the soil with a weed membrane, then add your decking boards, whatever they are to the top & fasten down securely, remember to leave a slight gap between each board,my husband cuts a small piece of wood that he inserts in between each board to keep the gap even, removing it when he’s screwed the board down & so on  until finished. I suppose you could use pallet boards but they might not last that long, old scaffold boards or treated timber I.e decking boards would be better & more long lasting.
