My white orpington cockerel was dead this afternoon when I went down to the lottie. He was off colour this morning, not his usual strutting self and dead this afternoon. He was a substantial chap and protective of his girls but not aggressive to me. He was only 18 months old. :(

Im so very sorry to hear of your sad loss. Why is it always a little bit more sad when cockerals die? We are still mourning our "Bigfoot" who died when the fox attacked.
I bet he had a really wonderful albeit shortish life.

thank you all. I know he didn't suffer and has had a fun life. these orps seem to be so huge - he was way bigger than the hens
