Hi
I  inheritated a large raspberry bed but think they have seen better days so now looking to replace.

I was given a huge load of autum raspberries ( no idea what but lovely) and I brought Tulmaleen from my old plot

I want to buy some new summer fruiting but cannot decide which
Any recommendations?

I've had Malling Admiral in my garden for 6 years and they have given heavy crops of tasty berries. I've just planted a row on my new allotment as well. By contrast the Autumn bliss in the row next to them have been rubbish, although many on here really like them. I suspect it may be due to lack of water as they are quite near a large hedge, but the Admiral do OK.

I've just realised that it's because they are autumn fruiting so are swelling the fruit in late summer when it's usually bone dry here. I water all the raspberries in early summer, but forgot about the autumn ones It's so obvious now

I've just ordered Glen Ample... No idea what they taste like but they looked good and are meant to be able to cope with strong winds.

They are also spineless so it will be easier for my girls to pick the raspberries with me!

I'm looking forward to trying them next year.

Good point,

the Admiral are suceptible to strong winds breaking the branches. Worth thinking about on a windy site.

I hade some Malling jewel on my old plot great flavour but not the best cropper.

I love them..a really tasty fruit which crops well.  I went to Ryton a few years ago and was lucky enough to be with someone who knew the head blokie..so was able to taste all the vaieties there. Tulmaleen cam out on top.

I decided after postin gto stick with what I know and have just bought another lot lol
