flowerless sweetpeas

HI Everyone, hope you have all had a good summer . I have enjoyed the garden  very much but for one problem, we were late planting  out some sweetpeas  but they did grow eventually and grow and grow  but we have had the grand total of one flower ! and that was pathetic . the leaves are lovely and there are loads of them but no flowers. I have read somewhere that feeding the plants is the wrong thing to do ,and ofcourse i feed them because of planting them late i thought it would help them to flower before the autumn, I wondered if there is anything i could do to help the situation. If you had lots of leaves and no flowers, sounds like you had an excess of nitrogen. They need feeding with potash like tomatoes and roses for best flowers. Mine were in very late but eventually flowered quite well.
