I am sick of sycamore helicopters. I have thousands,,,, well many hundreds. Since Doris blew them all over the place, every day I am out getting a few more out. My beds are all ready for planting and then these pop up. I hate them.

Trouble is, they're even more of a nuisance if they get a bit bigger before you notice them!
There's a big Sycamore 4 doors down the terrace and I'm continually finding saplings growing where you least expect them - so I share your pain >:(

Mumofstig, they are driving me med. Glad I am not the only one. I have a tree out front a lime tree, so the council call it. It rains sticky gunk have the year and then bomb bards me with small hard things and lots of pigeon and magpie poo. My poor car.

Nothing says spring like sycamore saplings sprouting everywhere. There's very big tree in the park right outside my front door, last week I pulled several out of the rubber seals around the car doors. :ohmy: They're bad but buddleia are worse :mad:

Nooo!! I vote for ash seedlings! Turn your back and they are 6" high and about 6 foot of root anchoring them in place. Sigh. Does this ask for a poll for the fastest growing, furthest spreading tree helicopters??

Thousands of sycamore seedlings here too :mad:
The lawn and flower beds are covered in them. Just noticed at lunch time the guttering on the greenhouse is full of them!

Loads here in our garden. Not seen any on the lot yet, but everyone around the village seems to have them. First year I have seen them like this and we have a large sycamore not far from us. Must be the storm.
Real problem getting them out of the lawn. Just been cutting and hoping they will die. Not sure if they will just grow back though. What do you think, do they all need uprooting?

I was looking at next door's garden this morning and noticed loads of little tree seedlings had popped up. He won't be happy...he's a bit of a lawn diva :D

If they bother you why not pot up the seedlings and start a tree nursery :D

Solway cropper/ I have thought of doing that with laburnum seeds. I cut a tree down and the seeds are sprouting up worse than ever. Would never pot up the flaming sycamore, but laburnum, who knows.

Sycamore seedlings are the bane of our allotments. I'm continually pulling them out in spring - such a nuisance!

You think you have dug them all out, then we get rain, go out and hundreds poking up, they are driving me nuts.

I've just cleaned loads of growing seedlings from out of my shed gutter, I've not known such a prolific year for them before.
I'm wondering they must be useful for something.... composting perhaps.

I cut down a large sycamore (it's a WEED and I replaced it with a silver birch) but there are others nearby.
Every Spring I break my back weeding out the THOUSANDS of seedlings EVERYWHERE.
This year I even have an avenue of seedlings in each of the gullies on my omlet coop and forests growing on the tarpaulin over the run.
Can only suppose it was a fecund year for sycamore..... ::)
