Try painting a bit of glyphosate onto the shoots - unless you're vehemently opposed to using it!

I have some "Roundup Gel" that I treat potatoes/thistles/couch when they grow in the wrong place.

One click and enough gel appears to slime a weed even if is in the middle of other vunerable plants. Not cheap but it lasts for ages and never drips, as a paintbrush can.

I have 'extra' potatoes that have started growing in my plot too.  So what happens if you just leave them?  Will they be ok to harvest and eat?  My plot hasn't been touched for a couple of years so these have been there for quite some time.

There's a chance they could be harbouring blight and other diseases. They should come out.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I did suggest painting, rather than spraying - you do have a bit more control!

I planted some late last year for festival pots but nothing happened.   :(  However, they have now decided to put in an appearance!   :)  I'm presuming that they'll be ok to leave as the greenhouse had been cleared and there was no blight on the toms anyway?
