Our first sowing has 16 plants out of 3x 4 metre rows :(
Is it too late to dig over and sow again? If not, what variety is good for a late sowing?
Thanks
Oscar

you can sow carrots now but not sure which. Check the seed packets if you still have some leftovers
I shall be sowing loads hopefully, some time, soon mebbe :D I have Flakkee which I know can be sown now and I suspect most can but as I say always be guided by the packet
The Chantenay types are lovely, small juicy carrots and I like the Nantes too but there are just loads
My early sowings amount to one viable looking carrot at the moment so you're not on your own

I sowed mine a couple of weeks ago and have b*gger all yet. The row is now full of weeds but I don't want to pull them up just in case there are some seedlings hiding amongst them

nah don't do that. The carrots are very noticeable from the weeds so easily identified. The weeds will be able to be eased out carefully but let the carrots show themselves first :D

I sowed carrots about three to four weeks ago and still no sign I am going to rake it over and sow some more - perhaps with the freaky weather the soil just wasn't warm enough to aid germination :?:

Plant some Early Nantes - should still be time

Thanks folks :D

early june is fine for sowing carrots, particularly because of carrot fly, which come in waves. If you sow early june (rather than mid-late spring) you tend to miss them, even without protection.
I had a nice crop of chantenays last August from an early june sowing.

Plenty of time - try some quick-maturing ones.

I think its Autumn King that you can sow up to end July? oh just looked at Nicky's seeds online and it says Early Nantes2 and Autumn King, sow up to august!

my carrots are absolutely over run with weeds at the moment, unfortunately the weeds are still out-growing the carrots :(

I was disappointed today when I realised that the 'carrots' that were growing on my plot - sown weeks ago - were in fact poppies!
There was not a single carrot!
I have sown some more.
