Hatching eggs
« on: February 20, 2012, 14:49 »
Thinking of buying some more hatching eggs, he he he - I am so out of hand someone stop me
anyhoo, have seen some fantastic stock on ebay, so have emailed to check this is a photo of their birds firstly. Then if I do win  :tongue2: can I collect.

My question is if successful and I collect, 2.5 hours away, yes I'm mad I know!, do I still need to let them sit for 24 hours. They will not have been through the postal service just in my car?

Still always best to leave them for 24 hours to rest regardless.
What do you do with all the cockerels you hatch as obviously you cant mate brother to sister?
Staffies are softer than you think.

Really lucky, there is a guy approx 20miles away takes the cockerels n pairs them up with unrelated stock from local sales to sell on.

I give them to him but dont mind, I am just happy to know they get a fair chance  ::)

I just ordered some eggs off ebay (3 lots of 6 eggs) some were even from ireland and arrived a day later than the others. I put the first lot in the incubator after 24hours. The others I left for about 18hours and then placed them into the incubator with the others. In my opinion I dont think the 24hour rule needs to br strictly adhered too. Also I noticed when I emailed some of the hatching eggs sellers to ask if I could collect they said no collection which I thought was rather odd. So I ordered not from the local ads but from the adverts/auctions that seemed most real.

it really is best if you can collect then you can see the parent stock. Resting really should be done to give the egg time to settle, this does help with the hatch rate.
