It all depends on the dog...
My friend's dog killed one of her chickens once.
Our dog doesn't pay them any attention, apart from when they are dust bathing - then she watches them with a concerned look.  She's a gun dog so I guess she is trying to work out if they are injured and should be picked up and brought to me!

No losses for the last few months so the training must have worked.

my black labrador ignores the chickens until one of them flutters its wings, her expression changes and she charges at the bird. Luckily she does respond to my shout but I don't yet trust her with them and I don't want her frightening the girls.

My dogs a terrier and he doesn't pay them any mind at all. The cat on the other hand went to have a of a nosey and the 4 girls ganged up on him and he fled to the relative safety of the garden chair stack he seemed a bit put out by his experience but has never  chanced it again  .

I've 2 yorkshire terriers who are as good as gold around the chickens  .

I have a Westie who I would trust with my Hens but on the other hand I also have a cross Yorkie/Jack Russell who I don't trust with people so wouldn't trust him with my girls, he came from a rescue centre and was there for biting, he snaps if he gets scared or someone spooks him, he is to small to do people any real harm but could damage a hen. So I am afraid it's a no no from me
