may sound a silly question but, are mushrooms ok to give to chickens? i was putting together a dish of veg leaves and peelings yesterday and as i was putting in the mushrooms i had one of those moments, when you cant see why it wouldn't be ok but the fact you thought of it makes you doubt yourself a bit. if anyone could put my mind at rest on this i'd appreciate it. thanks.

Mine had some cooked mushrooms in left over chicken frittata (yes...eggs AND chicken... ) The mushrooms were carefully ignored but I noticed they polished them off later! I can't see any harm in small cooked quantities? I doubt whether they'd eat them raw when foraging?

I would'nt give them cooked mushrooms it' s hardly a natural food for chickens,  I dont give my birds anything that has been in the kitchen, there is plenty of natural food about ie fresh veg or some fruits to be given as treats , and I certainly would'nt feed them chicken

I have noticed a few  people  on here seem to use their birds as waste disposal bins, just because they eat it dose'nt mean it is good for them - sorry rant over

Yup Annie! I gave the chooks a few mushrooms once and they looked at me with utter disgust!

The dog polished them off....... the mushrooms that is (not the chooks)
