my first year with broccoli and....

where do the florets grow from I think I can see some forming now sort of in between the stems is that right? seems like a daft question but I think I have only ever seen it in a packet before 

Cut them as soon as they are a 'decent' size, not as big as those monsters in the shops.  They will keep cropping.     Cheers,     Tony.

well that could have been my next question too!! as I have calabrese growing  but as the labels got "mixed up" I dont know which is which and was going to wait for them to mature  thanks for the replies  and leaf axle was the word i was looking for and couldn't find

I'm growing Romanesco...which is calabrese in some catalogues, and broccoli in others...., but  it has a head more like a cauliflower!
Even more confusion 

I was pretty horrified to see all my purple sprouting broccoli flowering at once 2 weeks ago - I thought they were a winter veg??! Do I just keep cropping, and will they last until the winter?

i have broccoli and calabreze growing and i find if i don't cut it when it is small when i go back to lotty 2-3 days later it has started to flower and then it's to late for eating.  also they just keep growing more heads/sprouts
