She is a Oprpington bantie.  She laid her 1st egg a week ago and laid 2nd eggsactly (soz) a week later and nothing since.  Is it normal for pure breeds to do this?

As it's only her first egg, I bet she's as puzzled as you are!  I would suggest you give her more time to settle into a routine.

One of my girls (ISA Browns, not pure) laid 3 eggs over 2 weeks and then that was it - she was off and flying, but we had Monday / Monday / Friday then she kicked off - whereas my other girl started every day from the day she started laying. Must be a (s)hell of a shock when they lay those early eggs!!!!!

yes just give her time as she is new to the laying game, however also check everywhere because she could have found a new place to lay,

I would give her some time to settle into a laying routine, but orpington banties are more for exhibition puropses than egg laying, so I probably wouldn't expect many more than about 3 eggs per week, and quite a long "rest' over winter

She has just laid another 1 so maybe she's getting the hang of it and the best bit is she doesn't make a squeak (unlike Rose) just comes back out and goes about her business.  Now we are just waiting for Baby, the other Pekin to do something.

On the other hand - I have a silkie bantam that has laid about 30 eggs in total in her three years. Last year she laid 9 in a two week period in March and then no more until this spring. This year we have had 11 so far. But she is  a real cutie

Needless to say my underproductive little madam doesn't go broody either - which had been the whole point of getting her. Bah humbug.
