Paving Slabs
« on: May 23, 2009, 21:11 »
Hi guys

why is it so difficult to find used paving slabs.  I must have tried every yard around us, local paper, yellow paper etc.  I even drove to a local gypsy yard but no one has any lol I need about 100 for my two plots and my neighbour on the next plot needs about 100 too lol
aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I suspect everyone who needs used slabs has already bought them up. It'll be a matter of constantly checking all possible sources to finally collect what you need. Nothing comes easy.

I think you answered you own question, given the quantity you and you neigbour are looking for.

Also if you notice, there are very few paved footways these days, the slabs were replaced ages ago. (The cycnical inside me would say due to people claiming damages after tripping over broken ones).
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I got a load last year from someone on ebay;  she had them up for 99p starting price so I bid £1; if I didn't get them it wouldn't have been the end of the world, and I won the auction

She was near Cramlington and they were the old style one's (2" thick and 2' long) so it took 3 or 4 trips over 3 weekends.... it cost me more in deisel than if I had just gone to B&Q and bought a load ::)

Ah well, you live and learn
