Just dug up our few Maris Peer and Charlotte spuds, do I wash them then air dry to harden the skins or do I do the reverse?  Luvery looking spuds, planted just below the surface then mulched with leaves and shredded paper!

Best not to wash them until you are going to eat them.  Dry them off then store, ideally in hessian sacks.
The spuds I'm harvesting at the moment I wash straightaway so I'm bringing less mud into the kitchen but they going to be eaten within a week, when I harvest the storers, they'll not get washed.

when we dig our early potatoes we let them dry then bag them up in paper sacks and store them in a cool dry place that excludes most of the light we had to dig most of our early potatoes in the raised beds because the slugs had started to have a feast but there in paper sacks and are keeping well we do not wash any of our potato crops as they tend to go green
