Do Chickens like smoked salmon? - you bet

On New Years eve Clare our daughter brough round some Waitrose oak smoked salmon she hadn't eaten over Christmas.  She hadn't even opened the package but it was 3 days passed its display by date and although it had been kept in the fridge she's paranoid about food dates so wouldn't eat it.  Anyway I said stick it in the fridge and the cat can have it.  On New Year's day the cat heartily tucked into some of the smoked salmon for breakfast.  There was still plenty left and the cat seemed to be still happy and the thought of seeing the rest go to waste was too much for me.  So as we had some brioche left, buttered with cream cheese and a dressing of mayonnaise and horse radish sauce and squeeze of lemon it was an excellent lunch.  

Still the major part of it was left so I thought about the chicken.  They like tuna so will probably eat smoked salmon.  I diced up the remaining salmon and offered it to the girls. 

No need to worry about them liking it, it disappeared in no time at all

Clare said "perhaps they'll now start laying as I've had to buy supermarket eggs for the first time in ages!"

I threw mine 1 king prawn with tail still on to see if they liked it.  Eh Wot!! it didnt even hit the ground and the chooks went into a frenzy chasing each other round the garden. Needless to say they got 1 each. Will buy some more just for the laugh.
