nettle tea
« on: August 05, 2012, 14:34 »
greetings,i have made some nettle tea in about 20 litres is it wise to add this to a 100 litre rain water butt to dilute it and then water direct from the butt or is it not suitable for some veggies?

I would tend to keep it separate from the water butt water supply and dilute to about 1:10 for demanding crops such as tomatoes. Certain crops, for example onions won't benefit and in fact it might have a detrimental effect.

From what I understand, nettles provide nitrogen, therefore are good for leafy plants such as brassicas.

Tomatoes being a fruit producing plant are better with comfrey tea.
