Here are my raised but not edged beds. The fleece has early (probably too early) spuds underneath. The left one has been manured and the right one composted.

Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Hi Noshed

When did you put your spuds in?  And what part of the country are you in?

It would be good to know how they fare as it is still quite early, but I guess if the soil is not too damp or cold it should be ok especially as you have put a protective cover on.

I was wondering when would be the best time to put my spuds in.  The plot has had a lot of rain and it still needs digging to prepare; I just hope I have the time to get it ready.

Interested in the pics of your neighbours shed; its a good way of recycling old materials that could end up in landfill.

Good Luck with your spuds etc;
Everyday is the dawn of a new error...

Wellybabe,

You've no need to worry about being too late to put your spuds in yet.

I reckon on late April as an outside date...  :)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Hi Welly
It was very much an experiment - prompted by an article by Anne Swithunbank. They're under two layers of fleece and the soil is quite good - lots of compost dug in, so I'm hoping they won't just rot.
I'll put the rest in about late March I think.
Shed design is one of the most interesting things on our site. You should see the verandahs, let alone the sheds themselves.
