Chillis, and what to do with them...
« on: December 01, 2022, 12:03 »
And no - not THAT!

We've had a good year for Scotch Bonnet and Thai Dragon, and Mrs Growster kindly sewed the former onto threads, and we started to dry them in the very sunny south-facing conservatory...

The pics show how they are now, but closer inspection has shown that some are just going a bit mouldy, whereas in the past, they've just stayed red, and we've used them as a very dry pod!

Are these worth keeping in some way, as we also have some fresh ones still on the plant, which may well be frozen, but it seems a sad waste to just chuck these out if they can be salvaged some way!

Any ideas are very welcome!

I'd just throw them Growster, rather than risk a tummy upset...

Yup, I guess you're right, Mum!

We've a whole lot more in the GH, but I just wondered if they were worth flaking or summat...

Naaaaah...chuck em!

With our garlic I     peel it and  put it through the mincer and then load it into jar and cover it with white wine vinegar.  I haven't got any lazy chilli at the moment to check that it's a similar recipe, but the garlic then lasts us all year.  Just an idea.

They're gone now, Wighty, but we have quite a few still on the plant, so that's an interesting way to keep them - many thanks!
