Grow Your Own / Re: Autumn Sown Carrots

I must say growing carrots in the autumn is something I've  never tried because I was always under the impression that things didn't grow so well in the autumn as in the summer months we grew that variety Eskimo
pelleted seed both on our allotments and my Daughters allotment this season and the carrots done really well on my Daughters allotments better than ours anyway good luck with your autumn sowings

Grow Your Own / Re: onions seeds or sets

I'm interested in you growing your onions in a membrane I guess your planting sets in the  membrane? I tried this method some years ago but the the sets grew inside the membrane and I ended up removing the membrane

but I  think membrane planting is a good idea  to suppress weeds that must encourage better growth I'm going to  plant onion plants in a membrane next season  to see how this method turns out thanks for your reply RW

Tomato pie. I made it yesterday.  All home-grown except for the yellow and orange ones.

Baked it inside the cast iron pan, but definitely baked, not fried.

Yesterday was traditional roast lamb, potatoes & parsnips with a bit of leftover mash, roast veg-aubergine,onion,mushrooms,peppers, gravy

Tonight will be leftovers of either the lamb, some home cooked ham, or a beef casserole that hasn’t made it to the freezer

Went with the beef casserole with mash & for me broccoli
