The Floral Parade - your pictures
« on: January 02, 2019, 15:42 »
I've done a couple of similar threads, but time for a proper sticky topic I think.

It doesn't have to be an actual flower, just an ornamental plant you have grown and are proud of, is looking lovely or brightens your day somehow.

I'll start with a couple - the first spring flowers in my garden are some pretty cyclamen and the garrya is having it's moment of glory.  It is a good screening evergreen and is easily clipped into shape, but the tassels are something a bit special, especially at this time of year when not much else is doing much  :)

These are always the first snowdrops to bloom in my garden  :)  They are next to my little wildlife pond and are just starting to bud and flower.

the cyclamen are looking great, and I have one snowdrop appeared,  (do pigeons peck these?).  The Iberis haven't stopped flowering all year.  The lobelia and bedding begonias are all doing well. French Marigolds, and the Skimmia, lovely berries, but I am worried about the leaves, they are looking a bit bleached.

I would like a Garrya, but haven't got the room.  This is such a nice thread.  regards,  Mrs Bouquet

Lots today to spot while there was a break in the rain.

Hellebores galore.  I have then from white to inky dark purple and as many in-between as I can find  :D

Plus native primrose and wild crocus that have seeded into my garden from somewhere.  They are everywhere now and I'm quite happy about that  :D

Lots to choose from today, but my top 3 were Scilla growing under my olive tree, Epimedium lutea, which is a pretty, shade loving plant and some of my new bulbs.  These are Narcissus Prom Dance  :)

As incompetent as I am, I get the occasional, sort of success. Here they are!...whatever they are.

Fantastic display of tulips at Hardwick Hall on Good Friday in the walled garden borders - they start with white ones at one end (not in picture) and progress through yellows, oranges and reds through to deep purple (behind me, also not in picture.)

Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

I have pictures of the tulip parade here at chez NS today  :)  Its not quite as grand as a walled garden border (ooohh how I wish), but they are pretty enough for my little garden  :D

Tulip Gavota and Synaeda Amor, which are new.  The pink ones are more muted than the picture in real life, but I thought they looked lovely back lit by the Easter sunshine.  Finally some pink and white mix ones I can't remember the name of, as I have had them for years.

Today is mostly about free flowers  :)

A little Joie de Vivre rose that was a free bare-root plant and has been in about 3 years now, plus Erigeron karvinskianus that just arrived on its own and planted itself in the top of the wall behind our house,
