Pod size, ready to pick?
« on: July 14, 2013, 13:23 »
What is the best size to be picking my b/beans, they're bunyards. Some of the lower pods are fattening up nicely now, but unsure how big they go so don't want to be taking them off if they're not at their best yet. Thanks  :)
It's like a jungle sometimes, it makes me wonder how i keep from going under......

It's difficult to say I think.  Sometimes I pick off some nice big pods, only to find tiny beans in them, then another one you think oh that doesn't look very fat, but nice big beans.

I'd try a couple and see what happens.

I give them a squeeze and see how fat they feel. We prefer ours small though.

Its down to preference you can harvest young pods and eat them whole!

As mentioned above give them a squeeze an see. If you let them get to big inside the pods they get quite leathery...... not a big issue because you can boil them for 4 minutes and peel them out of their 'leathery jackers'.
