I hope it's not too late but I want to spread some horse manure from the horse in the field next door over a freshly dug plot.  Trouble is, it's fresh manure but hopefully it'll be ok?

Probably best left a bit yet.  Am under the impression it can be a little harsh in its new state.  I am just spreading now last years poo collection.  wish I'd got two trailer loads now!!  Its not going to go far enough but is lovely stuff having sat a year.

Really should be stacked, however, if you still want to use it dig it in rather than spread it on the surface and add a nitrogenous fertilizer at planting time

If it smells like horse poo it hasn`t rotted down enough. If it does`nt smell like anything its ready to use. Throw it on your compost heap and leave it until the autumn.
