germinating beetroot and onions indoors?

Hi everyone, i have aquired some beetroot seed and some onion seed, is it worth germinating them inside in my heated prop or should i just sow them straight into the ground?

also is it too early to do it yet?

Beetroot don't as a rule transplant well you'd be better off going direct sowing, Onions you can start off indoors, you could do it the "module" way no heat req, I grow all mine this way as a general rule, you can start off the onions now if you wish.

As a complete beginner I tried growing onions from seed and failed. Sets worked really well though.

I'm with Ice Hockey, I have never been successful with onion seeds but can grow from set very well. I plant my beetroot in trays in unheated greenhouse later.

I started beetroot off in modules last year and it seemed to work OK. probably a bit early yet awhile.

Yep as tuther two, always put me beets in trays and transplant, always grow from sets as well.

Red ones ;o) ....im not sure of the variety, ill have to check when i get home, they were given to me by somone in exchange for some chilli seeds.

yes go for it beets transplant ok aslong has you dont let em out grow the module,
