Palm Fibre - Will It Compost?
« on: July 21, 2011, 21:40 »
Had a couple of Torbay Palms die last winter, have cut them down and found the insides are made of a lovely, fibrous 'coir' type material.

Has anyone tried composting this stuff?  It looks like it should make a perfect 'brown' layer to mix in with grass cuttings but I'm not sure how long it will take to rot down...

What exotic compost you will have byb  :D  Not sure anyone will have tried composting palms before, but if it is shredded up and mixed with greenery as you suggest, no reason why it should not work  :)
