Field beans will be OK anywhere - although I was thinking of just using autumn sown broad beans so you get a crop as well. Then just dig the stumps in.
I tried Hungarian Grazing Rye last year and it was a bit of a struggle to dig in.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.
