onion fertilizer
« on: January 23, 2024, 12:52 »
I'm looking for a good onion fertilizer we always use a granular fertilizer on the onion bed prior to planting and that goes for planting sets or onion plants raised from seen in the greenhouse so as they grow on what would be the best fertilizer to use to feed the crop would it be a nitrogen or an organic feed what do you suggest ?

Onions are mainly leaves, so yes I would say a fertiliser which is higher in nitrogren. It can be organic or non-organic, according to choice. One example is sulphate of ammonia. Another is poultry manure.

The RHS also suggests a high potassium fertiliser, such as Vitax Q4, when preparing the ground in advance.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
