here is the said beast.

i worked it for a few mins this morning after giving it a wash over to see what i have got

how did i do for £40.00?

its a briggs and stratton engine, its a runner. smokes for a second on start up and when i put more revs on but clears within a couple of seconds.

i dont know much history on it so would like to service it so if anyone can point me towards what i need and should do i would be very greatfull

thanks

i have no idea at all, i had thought it was maybe like a bumper that someone had made to stop it getting dammaged (bent) while in use or in transit, against a trailer so it could be tied in easyer? theres another bar that comes off it back to the underside of the body thats why i thought it could of been a  bumper

loks like a home made rake attachment or summat .the bar at the back is the depth bar  the higher you have it the deeper the machine goes ,its a 4 stroke briggs n stratton  horizontal shaft engine .if you look for the engine numbers etc we can give more help .service is simple take the spark plug out scrub it with a wire brush . drain the oil from it and replace the make of oil is on the tap to refill it .take the air filter out wash in washing up liquid and water allow to dry completly .drop a teaspoon of the engine oil on the foam and squish it through to cover it ( roll it in ur hands ) replace it and you should be off and running .
 for any spares check below.

good, im glad you think so.

im happy with it, ive just been out with it again and the tines have come mostly back to the original paint through using it and the dryed on soil coming off.

wondering about a rake or something now could be usefull to me as im still getting stones out so could be good when i keep going over the ground

get a frame of 1/2 inch chicken wire made up , put it on a couple workmates . dig the soil across the plot as you work down the garden throwing spades of soil onto the wire tray .make sure its dry day and the soils dry .this will help clear a load if you have loads .or do as i do n just pick em up n lob em someplace to use as hardcore for a path or something as u dig etc

wot a nice bargain :D

look after it service wise best to do that now before any more heavy use if  you dont know the last time it was done

I just put a NGK plug in mine   3510B6S our motor discount shop keeps them in stock as they fit most lawn mowers and rotovators they are slightly longer but do the same job

cheers
