Title: help about yeast

after seen caseys fine selection of wines, went and bought all things to add to my currants.thing is yeasts have changed in 30yrs.got an all purpuse for reds in a sachet, only sachet is enough for 5gls. only doing 1gl how much do i put in.....is it 1 teasp. help needed want to use currants asap.

thanks for that lardman,will make tomorrow.got every thing at stermats,dont know if nationwide,but prices really cheap.

I would make up a starter bottle put the sachet in about 0.5 pt of warm water a couple of tea  spoons of sugar and a few drops of lemon juice plug the top of the bottle with cotton wool and keep warm You should see it start to work you can then add to the must with confidence and it saves any delay in starting the fermentation the quantity of yeast used to start a brew is not critical as it rapidly multiplys in the must .
