IMO it's too early, unless they're going to be planted in a polytunnel.

Completely agree, I'm trying to my best to mollycoddle my peppers and tomatoes during these colder nights, I really don't need any prima donna cucabits thrown into the mix!

Anyone sown yet?

I have. I am going to Scotland for the month of May so have sewn half the packet for putting out before I go. If I am extremely lucky I will have 6 plants when I return. If not I will sew the second half of the packet and have some very late plants.

I generally sow mine late August, that way I only get enough to eat  ;)

Too early for me.
Temperature has been minus 1 today here so don’t think anything frost sensitive is worth it unless heading for a greenhouse
Cheers HH
Keep digging

No way!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

In the right conditions courgettes germinate fast (6 days on average) and grow fast (ready for planting out in around 3 weeks.)

I don't risk planting the tender stuff out until the end of May, so I won't be sowing them until the end of April/beginning of May (same goes for winter squashes, outdoor cukes, sweetcorn, runner beans, French beans.)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

I've sown a couple in small pots which are in my mini-GH that's kept inside the main one. Fingers are crossed!
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

I tend to agree with JayG we don't risk  these sowings either till the end of April beginning of May down here in the south

I'm in SW France and i haven't sown any yet. Waiting until 3 week of April and by then they can planted out in mid May without being set back by cold weather.
Grow lights for early germination;
Blow away on NE facing terrace for hardening off;
Small potager 90sq.m at 300metres
No-dig method, intensive planting and incorporating permaculture principles.

Sowed a couple earlier this week but they will be going out under cover. Won't be sowing the main crop for a few weeks yet.

I have.  Sown my first few courgettes.  They will be ready to pot on in a few days.  From there they go into an empty fertiliser (growmore) bucket.  They will stay in the green house in these buckets until I start to harden them off for a week or so before they go out (still in the bucket) mid May.  Only the first sowing will start some more end April for putting out in the plot directly.  Same process with my first cucumbers.
