Title: egg bound
Post by: Silkysmooth on June 16, 2011, 17:17
Hi All,

I have a poor chicken who has been egg bound for a few days. Tried a warm bath treatment and massaging the egg towards the vent area and lubrication but nothing has worked. The chicken is still ok in itself but is trying desperately to push the egg out. I have separated her from the rest into her on coop and pen as her  vent is very messy (white mucus soiled bottom) and open and the other chooks took delight in trying to peck her. She keeps trying to push her bottom area down and strain to get rid of this egg. Any advice on the next step to sort this problem out?

Thanks

Andy

Poor bird :(

All that's left is a trip to the vets before she gives up the struggle !

Ok this is a joke...just come back to the coop tonight to find another girl egg bound with stringy clots of blood and a messy vent! Why does this all happen at once!? Do you think the vet will do 2 for 1? :(

I'm afraid she died, I got the egg out after. Just massive but it does concern me as I have alot of girls who lay huge eggs too! Other one is better though but I feel like it will be a matter of time before the next unfortunately :(
