   hi there could someone please tell me whether ducks are really noisy to keep as have got two chooks and are thinking about a duck. is a male louder than afemale??? :blink:

Noise wise Muscovies are the quietist they make a lovely whistle type noise, these are a larger breed.
Call ducks are small but very noisey  Beautiful birds though
 
In my experience the females are more noisy than the males  :blink: They quack more high pitched constant (quackquackquackquackquack) where as the drake is more a deep and ( quack      quack) .


Ducks are fantastic, never a dull moment with a duck

You must get ducks, theirs never a dull moment with them, you couldnt write some of the stupid stuff they get up to

As Sarah said, Call ducks do what they say on the packet CALL. Most others are fine. We only here ours when its about to rain, they can some how sence it. Ours are no more noisey than our chickens.

one of ours is very noisy, real sid james style dirty laugh. neighbours think it is hilarious

This is first thing so they are greating one an other the noise does die down once they've said their hellos
Mine then only shout alot when they loose each other

Definitley recommend Muscovy ducks, who make very little noise and great pets.  Someone has already said they make a light whistling noise and it's so sweet!
