any ideas whats going on hear ? Ive got a 30' row and noticed this yeterday.its only happening in this small patch.

I don't know, but Aster yellows seems to be a strong candidate. :roll:

I normally have between two and three 20 foot rows of sweet william (9" apart in both directions) and very often their leaves look like the ones in the photo above at this time of year.

But they don't turn "Yellowish brown, withered spots surrounded by a purplish margin on leaves. As the disease progresses, entire leaves and stems become necrotic." -  as described in the above link, and they flower O.K. the following year. I always assumed it was just small bugs & slugs having a go at the leaves.

I like sweet william as rabbits don't eat them (yet).

Of course, I don't know, from one picture, it can be a lot of things, and when you say leaf spot, that would have been the last thing  I've gone for as there is no purple markings on this end, just yellow blotches.  :roll:

Good David says this, I was thinking something's wrong with the colours on me telly. :wink:
