The town which I live in has no allotments, but I discovered it once did on an old OS map. What is the law on allotments?

Hi there. Welcome to the forums. :D
There is a huge amount of laws on allotments. The old allotments which have not gone may or may not have been covered by the law.
There are 3 categories of allotments
Statutory Allotments - covered by allotment law and usually owned by councils
Temporary allotments - pieces of land used as temporary allotments until used for another purpose e.g. building; often owned by councils. Not covered by allotment law.
Private allotments - owned and run by people other than councils. Not covered by allotment law.
