We built an A shaped frame, runner beans down one side, dwarfs at the back, and the runners are doing ok, starting to flowers, and the 3 dwarfs on the same side are fine, but the back row have all died off!   Cant understand it.    in the same area we have courgettes, half of which are doing brilliantly, the other half are all yellowish and miserable, sweet corn which is about 2 feet high and starting to produce sort of frilly cob looking things, plus several squash which are doing fine.

As newcomers we are confused as to why some are fine and others are not, does this mean that it is down to nutrients, etc, rather than a viral problem?

On the other hand, chard, cabbages, potatoes, beetroot are doing really well.   And guess what, after months of crawling around searching for parsnip seedlings we have today spotted a row of them coming through!!   Cause for celebration or what?!!!

There are so many variables to gardening that we can't pinpoint the problem, but it sounds like that one spot either is lacking in nutrients or contains something the plants don't like. It's also possible that a small drift of someone's weedkiller hit that one area - happened to a friend of mine - twice. Sounds like you should replant asap and see what happens.

Is that side open to a blast of wind round a building/tree. I have a small area in my back yard where everything dies from wind burn, unless the weather is very kind...so no luck this year
