Sad day.. RIP Max
« on: August 05, 2024, 15:37 »
I had to take Max to be put to sleep this afternoon. He's been my constant companion since I rescued him in 2010 and I shall miss him terribly.  It was time but still heart breaking.

There’s no guilt in kindness, Lardy.

Saying goodbye at the right time is certainly kind!

So sorry to hear this  :(  Just because it was time that doesn’t make it any easier.

You rescued him and gave him a wonderful long and happy life.  I am sure if he could have he would said thanks mate and don’t worry, there is nothing for you to feel guilty about.

Oh Lard’s so sorry to hear this, no need for the guilt, you did him the last kindness you could. In time you could look back & begin to remember all those good times you shared. (((Big hugs)))

Don't feel guilty.  I'm sure that Max had a wonderful life with you and was much loved. The greatest kindness we can do for our animals is to ensure that they don't suffer at the end of their lives and that, much as we don't want to part with them, we don't keep them going for longer than is fair to them.  They always leave a hole that is hard to fill, though, don't they?

It is always really sad, but it's our last show of love for our furry friends. xxx

I agree with others that say, no guilt!  You rescued him, gave him a good home and were each other's friend and companion for many years!

I am also sorry for your loss. Dogs do know when it's time to say goodbye, and without words, they let you know when it is time. I'm sure Max knew how much you both meant to each other!

Sorry to hear about Max. I know how you must feel, been there and it's never easy or that clearcut. And it hurts. I'm sure you did the right thing, putting Max above your own pain.

So sorry to hear this. It's such a hard decision whether to keep going or to lose them, but you have done the right thing.

Take care of yourself as all the reminders / memories / habits pop up unexpectedly.
