Title: palletgate . . . . . .
Post by: daveinmanc on February 08, 2008, 01:23
noooooooooooo, not some saucy scandal involving politicians for a change. . . . . . .  its erm  . . . . .

a gate made out of erm  . . . .   pallets

would love to have done a 'before' picture but figured a photo of a pallet or indeed a pallet plank woulda been really boring lol

settled for a 'half way through piccy'

me pallet wood was surprisingly good n new, if a little grubby  . . . . .

but with me persuader (makita sander) and some 'kill em all' aluminium oxide 80 grit sand paper, it buffed up kinda well  . . . . . . .

Total cost: bugga all (my time) =baludy bargain lol
 :D

will treat  it up tmorra and add some pointy bits to the top for aesthetic effect, and hang it sunday and hopefully jobs a good 'un !

Turn the gate upside down, add a rope pully system, and then trap the b&^$%&s with your portcullis!

That's a seriously good gate, Dave. People pay good money for stuff like that!
I daren't show you my gate. What a state it's in. I won't change it until it drops to bits though, too much real gardening to do (Oooooh! My aching back). :D

cheers rob  :D

i'm very pleased with it myself, turned out brill' but a lot of that was down to the pallets being near new so the wood was in excellent condition, just needed cobbling together. gonna varnish it once its up just to help it stay that way and its so solid it should last for years.

best is, when i tried to cost it up, even including petrol going to pick the pallets up, screws, hinges, elecy to charge me cordless up, erm, lol, anyway i dont think its cost a tenner lol

Great gate Dave!  I'm very impressed.  I'm just starting to recycle some old planks to create a raised bed for the garden - its a little more slapdash than your marvelous effort!
