Seed potatoes
« on: January 18, 2010, 13:29 »
Hi

I'm new to the site and new to gardening.

My wife has just bought me some Rocket seed potatoes. I notice that some of them have already started to sprout shoots. Is this a bit early and if I rub out the shoots would they shoot again later.

I'd set them up to chit properly in a cool, light place, this will slow down the sprouting.

This fact sheet may help:

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

You can rub of the shoots and they will re-grow, just like they do in sacks of spuds, But like DD said just start chitting them, I did all mine yesterday as they had started sprouting.
